I am a solo practitioner, which means from the beginning of a case through its conclusion, clients have direct communication with me, instead of getting shuffled through paralegals and assistants. When I meet with clients for their initial consultation, I do a thorough screening to pursue all potential forms of relief or possible avenues to resolve their issue.
I am bilingual, so Spanish-speaking clients can speak one-on-one with me in their native language, whether in person, or by phone, email, or text, without the need or expense of an interpreter.
I have a background in family litigation and immigration law. I began my legal career with the local child support office, and then spent several years working for one of the best divorce litigation firms in Memphis, so I have a knowledge base in other areas of law that may impact clients navigating the immigration process. My years of experience make it possible for me to guide clients through these issues, which means I can often resolve a concern without needing to retain separate counsel.
I am flexible with my hours of availability. Some attorneys keep set office hours and require clients to come in only during those hours, which means a client may have to ask off work and miss hours, resulting in a loss of income. Upon request and appointment, I make myself available to take consultations and appointments by phone, Zoom, or outside of regular business hours as needed. This allows my clients to address their legal issues with minimal impact on their schedule/job.
I am honest and straightforward with clients about the realistic possibilities of winning their case, the challenges they face, and the hurdles they will have to overcome to win. I do not take someone’s case if they have no path to a resolution of their legal issue, and will be honest with them about that as well.
I provide direct, one-on-one communication with clients, by phone, email, text, and in person. If they are Spanish-speakers or English-speakers, it’s in their language and not through the interpersonal barrier of an interpreter.
Development of proof is one of the most important aspects of any case, and can be challenging for clients unfamiliar with the legal system, and especially if English is not their native language. I help clients develop their sworn statements which will form the foundation for their legal relief, and then work with them to determine what types of supporting proof might be necessary to build a stronger case, to increase the likelihood of a successful outcome. I have worked to build relationships with counselors and psychologists in the event that counseling or a psychological evaluation might be an element of the proof in the client’s case. This hands-on approach often results in not only a higher rate of successful outcomes, but can also mean a faster approval rate for certain cases.
Most of my clients come to me by word-of-mouth and not because they saw an advertisement or billboard. As a result, it’s easier to develop the attorney-client relationship from the very beginning, because clients come to me already knowing they can trust me, because someone they know or love already has worked with me and trusts me to explore all the legal possibilities that exists for them, and to guide them through all potential forms of relief for their case. To encourage word-of-mouth referrals, I generally waive the consultation fee for potential clients who were referred by an existing client.
